xDSL Pair Gain

The Orion Pair Gain - MDSL - Multi-Rate Digital Subscriber Line Equipment is a state-of-the art pair gain voice, data and ISDN multiplexer that uses the 2B1Q line code, based on the modern xDSL digital transmission technology to achieve a transmission rate of 288KBits/Sec. to provide a "mix" of analog and digital services to the subscriber premises.

Orion Pair Gain offers Basic Rate ISDN / IDSL / Data services alongwith 64Kbps POTS lines on a single twisted and unconditioned copper cable pair.

Product Overview:

The Orion Pair Gain, MDSL - Multi-Rate Digital Subscriber Line equipment is a state-of-the-art pair gain multiplexer based on the modern xDSL technology and offers Basic Rate ISDN / high speed Data services alongwith 64Kbps POTS lines in the same product.

The Orion Pair Gain delivers the following pair gain subscriber services on a single copper pair:

  • 2 x 64Kbps
  • 4 x 64Kbps
  • 2 x 64Kbps POTS Lines and 1 Basic Rate, "U" Interface, ISDN subscriber connection
  • 2 x 64Kbps POTS and 64 / 128Kbps high speed digital data leased line connection ,

These services are delivered on a single, twisted copper pair, to the subscriber premises.
No line conditioning is required on the pair on which the Orion Pair Gain is to be installed, and this pair may "run' in the same binder alongwith pairs carrying traditional analog POTS (voice) service.

The Orion Pair Gain is designed for the evolving modern networks which require digital services to be provided at the customer premises on the already existing copper cable plants. The equipment delivers, both, traditional analog and modern digital services to the customer premises over a single cable pair in the existing cable plants. The Orion Pain Gain is compliant to the ANSI and ITU-T specifications.

Transmission Medium:

The Orion Pair Gain based on xDSL technology, provides digital services to the customer premises on the already existing copper cable plants. The VCL-288 delivers simultaneously, both, the Basic Rate ISDN / 64-128Kbps high speed Data service and POTS @ 64Kbps to the customer premises over a single, ordinary and unconditioned copper cable pair in the existing cable plants.

Applications:

There are several applications of the Orion Pair Gain:

The basic applications involve services provided by the "telephone network operating companies" (the telcos), for providing public network access or Basic rate ISDN services to subscribers, where new subscriber connections need to be provided without installing additional or new copper cables. Orion Pair Gain is pair gain equipment providing services @ 64Kbps and Basic Rate ISDN services / high speed Data services, on existing copper cable plants.

Orion Pair Gain is an ideal solution for "telcos" and ISP's for providing high speed digital data (leased line) services to subscriber premises on the existing copper pair.

Desktop video conferencing (DVC) application can also be provided from the Orion Pair Gain.

The other important applications are the Campus applications. Some of the Campus Area Networks ideal for the are government office blocks, industrial plants, universities, commercial complexes, apartment complexes, suburban areas, the home-office, etc.

Basic Rate ISDN Applications:

The Orion Pair Gain ISDN configuration has been designed to meet the modern networking needs, which require traditional analog services and newer digital services to co-exist in the network. The Orion Pair Gain provides connectivity to 2 x 64Kbits/Sec. POTS lines and 1 Basic Rate ISDN, "U" interface connection / 64-128Kbps high speed Data service, over a single, unconditioned twisted copper pair. Thus, when a subscriber requires a new digital BRI ISDN service connection / high speed Data service, while opting to retain the existing traditional analog POTS services, the telco may effectively deploy the Orion Pair Gain to meet such customer requirements. Both the services - the 2, 64Kbits/Sec. POTS lines and 1 Basic Rate ISDN, "U" interface connection / 64-128Kbps high speed Data service, function simultaneously on a single copper cable pair.

Voice Applications:

All the 4 POTS (4 x 64Kbps) subscribers lines operate at speeds of 64Kbps, without any concentration. All the 4 subscribers may talk simultaneously using clear 64Kbps channels, since no line concentration is used to provide the service to any channel. Subscribers can get digital services quickly and cost effectively using the VCL-288. The VCL-288 also support dial-up modems for high speed Internet connectivity.

System Management Software

The Orion Pair Gain can be monitored through the RS-232 port from the Central Office using a PC through the system control and management software. The system may be monitored for Synchronization Loss, Bit Error Rate, BRI ISDN, "U" Interface Loop Back function and Subscriber Drop Testing from the Central Office without installing any additional hardware, tools or accessories.
