The VCL-MegaConnect-Jr APS E1 redundancy switch (each E1 Switch card) supports one E1 link, and upto 16, E1 links can be supported by a "pair" of E1 Protection Switching Systems. Two E1 Protection Switching Systems are required (one at each end of the link) for implementation of 1+1 redundancy solution.

One E1 Protection Switching System must be configured as "Master" and installed at one end of the E1 link. The other E1 Protection Switching System must be configured as "Slave" and installed at the corresponding far end of the E1 link.
 

E1 Automatic Protection (Failover) Switch
  Orion's 4 Port E1 Protection (Failover) Switch allows the user to connect upto four E1 lines from the telephone company to "active", as well as to "standby" E1 terminal(s), such as data server(s), routers etc. at the customer premises.
