Gatekeeper Options for Tenor Call Relay 60
|
The Gatekeeper feature for Tenor Call Relay 60
is used for registering and controlling IP end points within the
private zone behind the Call Relay. Various H.323 end points, such
as IP phones or Tenor VoIP switches, within the zone can register
to the gatekeeper* in the Call Relay. End points in the wide area
network, outside the local zone, cannot register to the Call Relay
gatekeeper.
When VoIP calls are made between end points in
the private zone they are routed by the gatekeeper, with the voice
media stream flowing directly between the end points for maximum
efficiency. The gatekeeper remains in the signaling loop for the
duration of the call.
When calls are made to end points outside of
the local zone the gatekeeper will route calls (both signaling and
media streams) through the Call Relay to the wide area network.
This process provides all of the normal benefits of using a
session border controller for those calls to or from end points in
the wide area network.
When adding the Gatekeeper option the number of
gatekeeper ports selected must be equal to the number call relay
ports. This means that when choosing to add the Gatekeeper option
to the Call Relay 60 Base System (which has 16 call relay ports)
the Gatekeeper option must be a GK-16 CR60. Similarly when adding
the gatekeeper option to a fully loaded Call Relay 60, two
GK-30CR60 options must be used.

Tenor Call Relay SP (Session Border Controller)
|
Tenor Call Relay SP Session
Border Controller provides a single VoIP portal between IP
networks allowing for end-to-end VoIP communications across
multiple IP networks. All calls are switched through multiple IP
networks with just one compression and decompression of the voice.
The result is less latency and higher voice quality as the call
traverses through the network.
The Tenor Call Relay SP allows VoIP endpoints
behind a Network Address Translation (NAT) firewall to communicate
with external VoIP networks. This allows both enterprises and
service providers to expand their VoIP networks to their customers
and partners and across the public Internet.
Tenor Call Relay SP also provides a single
point for call management, administration and security at the edge

Gatekeeper Options for Tenor Call Relay SP
|
The Gatekeeper feature for Tenor Call Relay SP
is used for registering and controlling IP end points within the
private zone behind the Call Relay. Various H.323 end points, such
as IP phones or Tenor VoIP switches, within the zone, can register
to the gatekeeper* in the Call Relay. End points in the wide area
network, outside the local zone, cannot register to the Call Relay
gatekeeper.
When VoIP calls are made between end points in
the private zone they are routed by the gatekeeper, with the voice
media stream flowing directly between the end points for maximum
efficiency. The gatekeeper remains in the signaling loop for the
duration of the call.
When calls are made to end points outside of
the local zone the gatekeeper will route calls (both signaling and
media streams) through the Call Relay to the wide area network.
This process provides all of the normal benefits of using a
session border controller for those calls to or from end points in
the wide area network.
When adding the Gatekeeper option the number of
gatekeeper ports selected must be equal to the number call relay
ports. This means that when choosing to add the Gatekeeper option
to the Call Relay SP Base System (which has 120 call relay ports)
the Gatekeeper option must be a GK-120CRSP. Similarly when adding
the gatekeeper option to a fully loaded Call Relay SP (672 call
relay ports), five GK-CR120SP options must be used.

Call Capacity Options for Tenor GateKeeper+
|
The call capacity upgrade options determine the
number of simultaneous VoIP ports that can be supported by the
Tenor GateKeeper+. No call capacity is supplied with the Tenor
GateKeeper+ Base System.
One or more call capacity options must be
ordered in addition to the base system. Options may be combined,
in 20 port or 100 port increments, to support the desired number
of VoIP ports for the zone controlled by the Tenor Gatekeeper+.
