E1 Channel Bank multiplexer for terminating
Long Distance Traffic.

September 15, 1999

March 28, 2002

Orion's VCL-30, 2Mbps E1 Channel Bank multiplexers support Cisco, Nuera, 3Com, Lucent VoIP servers that are used for terminating long distance traffic with PSTN lines that SHALL SUPPORT, or, DO NOT SUPPORT "battery reversal / polarity reversal" (answer supervision).

NEW Channel Bank from Orion

The VCL-30, E1 channel banks are available in two versions:

  • VCL-30 can be used with PSTN lines that SHALL SUPPORT "battery reversal / polarity reversal" (answer supervision).
  • VCL-30 "spoofs" battery reversal / polarity reversal (answer supervision), and can be used with PSTN lines even if they SHALL NOT SUPPORT "battery reversal / polarity reversal" (answer supervision).
  • The first version of the VCL channel bank version is one which expects a "battery reversal / polarity reversal" condition on the analog line when the call is ANSWERED by the CALLED PARTY. The VCL channel bank shall feed the call answered bits to the E1 side so that the billing server may commence its billing. This happens as soon as the call is ANSWERED by the CALLED PARTY and the PSTN initiates a "battery reversal / polarity reversal" on the analog line.
  • However, if the PSTN lines are NOT SUPPORTING "battery reversal / polarity reversal" the VCL channel bank shall automatically, based on the statistical analysis of a circuit usage, extend the call answered bits to the E1 side, so that the billing server may log the call and commence billing. This is particularly useful in an environment where the PSTN analog lines DO NOT SUPPORT "battery reversal / polarity reversal", which would be otherwise required for commencing the call metering / billing.
  • VCL-30 Access Multiplexer, E1 Network Access Multiplexer is an ideal choice for Internet Telephony (Voice over IP) applications, ISP and Corporate customers, who wish to connect their fully digital networks to the PSTN through the available analog dial-up PTT lines.
  • VCL-30, 2Mbps E1 Channel Bank provides full range of POTS (voice) and data interfaces including FXO, FXS, 2W/4W E&M, hotline (FXS-FXS), V.35, Nx64 Kbps, G.703 (64Kbps Co-Directional), V.24.
  • Orion also provides a wide range of telecom transmission solutions including data communication equipment, Voice over IP solutions, E1 Channel Banks, E1 WAN Access multiplexer, E2 (4E1) Opti Multiplexer, E3-PDH multiplexers, 34Mbps Optical Line Transmission equipment (OLTE), ISDN, digital pair gain systems and Bandwidth Manager equipment.
